Hello, I'm Andreana.
Â
I've run a private practice since 2019 and this newsletter since 2020, from my office in Southern California. I provide Intensive EMDR therapy for trauma-related disorders, virtually and in-person appointments. These days, I primarily treat workaholics and adults with childhood and/or spiritual abuse. Â
But I bet what you really want to know is...
"Why does an EMDR Therapist write and curate a FREE newsletter for other therapists?"
BESIDES the fact that getting EMDR training literally gave me hope for the work again, I write this newsletter for 3 reasons:
1: Burnout Prevention
You and I both know that trauma is a part of this job.
The therapy career draws in the warmest, most generous human beings, and then sends us through a meat grinder of school (and school debt), exhausting training days, and decade’s worth of competing interests and politics.
And yet, the demand for therapists continues to skyrocket.
How do we protect and strengthen the excitement and joy of our graduation days?
How do we make sure that our colleagues are happy and whole, able to do good work, and ready for those referrals we want to send their way?
How do we keep the reputation of our profession above reproach?
We take good care of ourselves and each other.
If you want to hear a little part of my burnout story, I tell it in this Burnout Prevention/Recovery Workshop (it’s completely free). I hope it helps you recover and strengthen yourself as well!
2: To Give BackÂ
Living out your values is one of the strongest strategies for overcoming moral injury, and recovering from trauma.
The Working Phase newsletter is a way to give something valuable back. I want to model intentional generosity in a healthy way, so that you’ll be encouraged to do the same.
Each post is free to subscribers. Resources for purchase support the cost of webhosting+labor.
Pay-what-you-want pricing is offered when possible.
3: To Have Fun!
Over the past 5 years, Working Phase (and its predecessor, The Community Mental Health Survival Guide) has connected therapists from around the world!
We will soon have the opportunity to roll out therapist interviews and guest posts. If writing is fun for you too, I want to hear from you! I’d love to help you get your message out to our colleagues.
I hope you’ll keep looking around, subscribe, and share the resource with your therapist bestie.
And if you happen to be an EMDR nerd like I am, I cannot wait to meet you in consultation.
