Briefly, here's the deal.
Everyone on the SAVE plan is on deferment.
The other Income-Based / Income-Contingent Plans are freezing recertification for 3 months and new applications are unavailable online (but paper applications were still available as of Friday). This means that if you had a sudden change of income, you might not be able to apply for a different payment plan til the summer. And if you haven't applied for a lower payment already, it's going to be very hard to do that for a while.
And then Friday night, the office of the President changed the priorities for Public Service Loan Forgiveness...If your workplace primarily serves trans, pro-Muslim, or other insufficiently conservative causes, you may not be eligible for PSLF in the future.
